Meet Máire Zepf and Andrew Whitson

Meet Máire Zepf and Andrew Whitson in the latest episode of the Graffeg Meet the Author Podcast. With producer and interviewer Keiran Manetta-Jones, Máire and Andrew tell all about their Rita series of children's picture books. Together they discuss how the Rita series first came about and the different language editions, offering you a unique insight into the illustrations and stories from the series.

Written by award-winning author Máire Zepf and illustrated by celebrated illustrator Andrew Whitson (Mr Ando), the Rita picture book series for ages 3-5 discusses family relations and some of the challenges of growing up as well as Rita’s many vivid imaginative wishes. In the first six books of the series, we see Rita want a witch who will let her stay up all night, a super-sorting robot to help her tidy up, a ninja to train her, a dragon to show her how to calm down and a genie to show her why it's important to share.

Meet Zeb Soanes and James Marangone

Meet author Zeb Soanes and composer James Marangone as they dicsuss their latest project Fred and the Fantastic Tub-Tub.

Fred and the Fantastic Tub-Tub is a humorous and exciting story for ages 7-9 about a summer holiday adventure and a musical plant. The book was written by author of the Gaspard the Fox series Zeb Soanes and illustrated by Anja Uhren. It is also a brilliant new orchestral work by James Marangone, performed by Orpheus Sinfonia.

In this interview you will learn about the origins of the Fred and the Fantastic Tub-Tub project, as well as learn about some fascinating facts about how the story and orchestral work developed side-by-side.

Meet Maggie Ogunbanwo

Meet Maggie Ogunbanwo in the first Graffeg Meet the Author Podcast. Find out more about her first recipe book - The Melting Pot - along with her latest venture into plant-based cooking in African Twist. Maggie tells us about her favourite recipes from the books and the inspirations behind them, as well as providing us with some helpful cooking tips and mouthwatering recipe inspirations.

Producer and interviewer Keiran Manetta-Jones joins Maggie as they discuss her business, her inspirations and her cooking.

Author Maggie Ogunbanwo runs Maggie’s African Twist, selling predominantly African sourced or themed food products both on and offline. Maggie is passionate about food and cooking as well as being committed to quality and the support of local providers.

In 2021, with support from the Food and Drink Wales Industry Board, Graffeg published Maggie’s book, The Melting Pot, which showcased the diversity and variety of the Welsh BAME community’s culinary expertise. Her latest cookery book, African Twist, is publishing in February 2022.

A Graffeg Podcast

We are launching a new podcast series to give you an insight into our authors and illustrators and their latest titles.

\nStarting with cookbook writer and editor Maggie Ogunbanwo, this series will consist of one-hour long interviews highlighting brilliant new titles from across the Graffeg publishing catalogue.

In the first episode, listeners can find out more about Maggie’s first recipe book – The Melting Pot – along with her venture into plant-based cooking in African Twist.

The podcasts are presented and edited by Kerian Manetta-Jones, a freelance radio and podcast producer who has worked with Heart Wales and BBC Radio Wales, among others. Each episode will be available to listen to from major podcast streaming services, including Amazon and Spotify, as well as here on our Podbean page.
